8/27/04 update

The spinal tap and chemo treatment went well yesterday. It was a difficult morning because Jordan cannot eat anything prior to the anesthesia. So now we have a kid who has never skipped breakfast in his life, he has been on steroids for 3 days, and he can't eat until 2pm. Needless to say it was a challenging morning. The good news is that the sedation they use has a very fast and smooth recovery period so he was able to have a normal late lunch. Today will be a quiet one. No chemo treatments or transfusions just hanging out at the hospital. Tomorrow he will receive a chemo injection in the leg muscle and then we will hopefully be able to go home for a few days. Thanks for all the comments it is really fun for us to read those. Lara and Jim

I look for these updates every morning! I am glad that things seem to be going well so far. You are always in my thoughts. Rob is taking some vacation next week and the week after, so assuming everyone in my house stays healthy, I would love to stop by and visit during that time. I'll touch base with you next week to see when would be a good time. Glad Jordan finally got to eat something--I can only imagine what Grace would be like in a similar situation. The boys could probably handle it, but I think Grace would be climbing the walls looking for food.

Hi Jim and Lara,

Mom passed this blog url on to me. What a wonderful use of technology! Steve and I are checking daily. I am so glad to hear Jordan is making such good progress through all these proceedures. We pray for you and Jordan as a family nightly. Seth and Keller have had lots of questions. Their exposure to cancer up to this date has been only the adult versions, all with terrible endings. We had to talk a lot about Jordan's version and what it means to him. We are thinking of you constantly.

We learned about Jordan from Lisa Newton as she visited our store for a book for you all. We too are touched by you and Jordan's story and life. You remain in our prayers and thoughts as you press on with this most difficult journey.

God speed.

What do you want to say Jesse?: "ummmm...ship. "

What else? "ummmmmm.....I want to say 'ship' to jordan. Jordan, yeah...

OK. Daddy is going to paraphrase: "Hi Jordan, this is Jesse. I got a new ship from my Nama. I want to play with you with it. I hope you come home from the hospital soon. Do you like cheese? I do."

Anything else Jesse?: "No."

That's all for now. We love you guys and hope Jordan can head home today or very soon.

-Jesse and his Daddy.
